It seems no aspect of our lives has been left untouched by the COVID 19 pandemic and that includes providing the services our nation’s military veterans are entitled to.
Yankton County Veteran’s Service Officer Mike McDonald says due to the coronavirus, there was a decline in contacts to his office from veterans seeking assistance with their benefits in 2020.
McDonald says the COVID 19 pandemic has severely impacted the VA’s ability to provide the documentation needed to move cases forward.
McDonald says he has observed a downward trend in the number of veterans seeking help.
McDonald says the number of contacts to his office declined in 2020 by more than three hundred from the previous year.
