Governor Noem’s Broadband Proposal

Governor Noem’s Broadband Proposal

Expanding broadband internet capability throughout the entire state is a key proposal put forth by South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem in her State of the State address.

District 18 Senator Jean Hunhoff says while she supports the initiative,  there are questions about just how much of South Dakota is lacking broadband service.

Hunhoff says improved internet capability will impact a number of businesses including healthcare and education.

Hunhoff says a timeline for the broadband expansion still needs to be set.

Governor Noem proposed using about 100 million dollars  to expand  broadband access to the more than one hundred thousand South Dakotan who currently lack high-speed internet access.
