Beginning early Thursday evening, a blizzard warning is in effect as a fast moving winter weather system promises to bring snow and pounding winds to our region of the country.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Samantha Carr says the Yankton area is already seeing wind gusts to fifty miles-per-hour and light snow associated with the early stages of this system.
Carr says beginning Thursday evening and into Friday snowfall amounts will increase as strong winds continue.
Carr says people with travel plans should consider delaying their trip until this weekend.
Carr says we can expect this system to leave the area by late Friday with daytime high temperatures rebounding into the mid-30’s by Sunday.
