Municipal sales tax numbers for Yankton finished last year above projections by a narrow margin.
City Manager Amy Leon says sales tax figures for the last third of 2021 were less than had been hoped for.
Leon says expecting that sales tax numbers will continue to be impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic again this year, budget projections for 2021 are very conservative.
Leon says Yankton’s triple-B fund saw a significant drop of about five and a half percent for the year.
Leon says if the decline in sales tax numbers persists, she will evaluate the need for budget cuts after the first quarter of 2021.
