COVID-19 numbers for active cases and hospitalizations across our area and most of South Dakota are at their lowest levels since the middle of October. Yankton County currently has 154 active cases of the coronavirus and Clay County stands at 72 active cases.
There are 5,040 active cases of COVID-19 in South Dakota and 237 people are currently hospitalized with the virus statewide. Sunday’s report from the South Dakota Department of Health confirmed there were 29 additional deaths from the virus over the weekend, bringing the statewide total to 1,585. There have now been 27 fatalities from COVID-19 in Yankton County.
As of yesterday afternoon, there have been nearly 38-thousand people in South Dakota vaccinated against the virus and over five-thousand have reached two doses. So far 1,329 people have received the vaccine in Yankton County.
There are 475 people in the hospital with COVID-19 in Nebraska, which is the lowest level in the past 11 weeks. Nebraska has had 1,760 deaths connected to the virus after 27 fatalities were reported this weekend.
