Yankton County reported five deaths from COVID-19 over the past three days, bringing the County’s death toll up to 23 since the pandemic began. Yankton County has dropped to a total of 298 active cases of the virus, while Clay County has declined to 108 active cases.
There were 32 additional deaths from the coronavirus in South Dakota over the weekend and the statewide death toll is now at 1,361. There are 345 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in South Dakota, while the State Department of Health says there are 8,270 active cases. Those numbers are the lowest in South Dakota since late October.
The death toll in the state of Nebraska from the coronavirus is now at 1,486 after 16 additional fatalities were added this weekend.
There were 138 deaths connected to COVID-19 over the weekend in the state of Iowa, where there have now been 3,589 deaths since the pandemic started.
