There is no doubt 2020 will be remembered as the year the COVID 19 pandemic gripped the world’s attention, but the coronavirus was not the only noteworthy event on either the national or local stage.

Yankton City Manager Amy Leon says breaking ground on the Huether Family Aquatic Center and closing out the municipal water treatment plant project were both huge accomplishments for the community.

Leon says in order to continue to provide city services, the COVID 19 pandemic has forced ongoing changes in the operation of municipal government.

Looking ahead to 2021 Leon says the impact of the coronavirus will be a facet of our lives for some time to come.

Leon says evaluating the long-term impact to municipal operations and finances of COVID 19 will be a priority in the coming year.
