Yankton County Commission Adopts COVID 19 Resolution

Tuesday night, the Yankton County Commission adopted a resolution urging citizens to follow the Centers for Disease Control’s guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID 19.

Emergency Management Director Paul Scherschligt (shur-slik) says after seeing a sharp increase in coronavirus cases those numbers have declined quickly, likely as a result of people not seeking to be tested.

Commissioner Joe Healy says the COVID 19 pandemic is taking an emotional toll on frontline medical personnel.

Healy says the recent high death toll witnessed locally by hospital staff is not a normal occurrence in their professional lives.

Since the coronavirus pandemic began last March, the Yankton community has seen a total of seventeen deaths attributed to COVID 19.
