The Yankton School District has presented the first of two planned donations to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital to show support for health care workers during the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic.
Regional Director For Philanthropy For The Avera Foundation Sheila Kuchta says treats, artwork and personal letters of thanks were among the items delivered by school officials and students to staff of the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital.
Kuchta says visitation restrictions due to the COVID 19 pandemic have placed a strain on family members.
Kuchta says the donation from the Yankton School District provided much needed emotional support for hospital staff.
Avera Sacred Heart Hospital spokesman Nathan Johnson says the thoughtfulness of the Yankton School District donation was appreciated by hospital staff.
