Consideration of a contract for engineering services with the firm of HDR is on the agenda for Monday’s meeting of the Yankton City Commission and officials say this is a first step forward to addressing the community’s need for a new wastewater treatment plant.
City Manager Amy Leon says EDA grant funding is in place to help fund work that is needed to keep the plant operating in the near future.
The wastewater treatment plant has sustained damage from both flooding and around-the-clock operation and Leon says these improvements are needed to maintain the facility while a long-term plan is developed.
Leon says big decisions on the wastewater treatment plant lie ahead for the Yankton community.
The Yankton City Commission meets Monday at 7 PM.
