Governor Kristi Noem delivered her 2022 budget proposal to a joint meeting of the South Dakota legislature in Pierre on Tuesday.
District 18 Senator-Elect Jean Hunhoff says she wanted to hear the specifics of where the state’s one-time dollars will be allocated.
Hunhoff says due to COVID 19 pandemic relief funding, the state has an unusually high amount of one-time funding to utilize.
Hunhoff says she expects there will be much debate among lawmakers over what priorities such as COVID 19 testing will be funded.
Hunhoff moves from the South Dakota House of Representatives to the Senate and will Chair the Senate Appropriations Committee next year.
