Next Wednesday, the Yankton City Commission will hear the second reading of an ordinance mandating the use of facemasks in public areas in response to the COVID 19 pandemic.
Mayor Nathan Johnson says just as local citizens have a wide variety of opinions on the need for a masking ordinance, that division is reflected by the city commissioners.
Johnson says considering a mask ordinance will require a balancing act by the city commission between personal opinions and healthcare considerations.
Johnson says people are welcome to attend next (this) Wednesday’s special meeting or make their thoughts known via email.
