The Yankton Bucks have moved up to third in the latest 11AA Football Media Poll following their 41-9 win over Sturgis last week.
The Pierre Governors maintained the top spot, receiving all first-place votes, with Tea ranked second after their win over Watertown. Watertown and Huron round out the top five, with Spearfish receiving votes.
Elsewhere in the rankings, the Bon Homme Cavaliers remained second in 9AA, receiving one first-place vote, and Avon stayed fourth in 9B despite their loss last week.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Soccer return home tonight to host the Brookings Bobcats at Crane-Youngworth Field.
Both Yankton squads are coming off wins last time out over Huron, the Bucks winning 4-1 while the Gazelles tallied a 9-0 shutout.
The girls will play first at 5:00 PM, with the boys to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:00 with Brayden Butler and Gage Becker.
Yankton Gazelles Tennis will host Mitchell and Sioux Falls Lincoln today in a varsity triangular at Yankton High School.
The Gazelles will take on the Kernels first at 10:00 AM, before facing the Patriots at 3:00. The Kernels and Patriots will square off in between at 12:30.
Yankton Bucks Golf was scheduled to compete in the Bill Scholten Invite in Brookings yesterday, but the event was cancelled with no plans to reschedule.
Yankton now turns their attention to the Mitchell Invite this Saturday at Lakeview Municipal Golf Course. Tee time is scheduled for 10:30 AM.
Mount Marty Football Coach John Michaletti and Bucks Soccer Coach Dane Hansen will be the featured guest speakers at tomorrow’s Yankton Quarterback Club Meeting at the River Rock Event Center.
Hansen is in his 3rd season as Bucks head coach, with Yankton currently 3-5-1 on the year. Michaletti and the Lancers are 2-1 after their loss to Northwestern.
A meal will be available for purchase beginning at 11:15 AM, with the program scheduled for noon. The public is invited to attend.
