Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Soccer picked up a win and a draw last night in their Class AA doubleheader against Mitchell.

The Bucks earned their largest margin of victory of the season last night, defeating the Kernels 8-1. The Gazelles ended their night with a 1-1 draw.

Both Yankton squads are back on the road tomorrow to take on Huron in a doubleheader. The girls will play first at 3:00 PM, with the boys to follow.

Yankton Gazelles Volleyball were defeated by O’Gorman last night, three sets to one, in Sioux Falls.

Yankton is now 3-5 on the year, heading into a road matchup tomorrow night with Sioux Falls Jefferson.

First serve from Jefferson High School is scheduled for 6:30 PM.

Yankton Gazelles Tennis defeated Sioux Falls Roosevelt yesterday, 7-2 in their head-to-head dual.

The Gazelles swept doubles play. Karalyn Koerner and Mary Rounds won at flight one, Harper Anderson and Harper Weisenburger at flight two, and Sienna Cuka and Ramsey Anderson at flight three.

In singles play, Koerner, Rounds, Harper Anderson, and Ramsey Anderson all picked up wins.

The Gazelles are off until next Tuesday’s home triangular with Mitchell and Sioux Falls Roosevelt.

The Yankton Bucks fell to 4th in the latest Class 11AA Football Media Poll after last week’s loss to top-ranked Pierre.

Tea Area (2nd) and Watertown (3rd) both jumped Yankton after last week, with Huron rounding out the top five.

Two other area teams earned top-five spots in their respective classes, as Avon remained 4th in 9B and Bon Homme is still ranked 2nd in 9AA.

Yankton Competitive Cheer and Dance will host their home invite tomorrow afternoon at Yankton High School. Events are scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM.

South Dakota State Head Football Coach Dan Jackson is the featured guest speaker at today’s Yankton Quarterback Club Meeting.

Jackson is 1-1 in his second season at SDSU, after taking over for now Iowa State Head Coach Jimmy Rogers.

A meal will be available for purchase beginning at 11:15, with speakers scheduled for noon at the River Rock Event Center. The public is invited to attend.

Mount Marty Soccer returns to Crane-Youngworth Field for their first home doubleheader of the season.

The Lancer men will play first, taking on Minnesota Morris at 3:30 PM. The women will end the night against Nebraska Wesleyan at 5:30.

Mount Marty Volleyball travels to Hastings, Nebraska, tonight for their second GPAC match of the season against Hastings.

The Lancers are 8-7 on the year, 0-1 in conference play, coming off a 3-0 sweep of Culver Stockton in their last match.

First serve between the Lancers and Broncos from Hastings is scheduled for 7:30 PM this evening.

Mount Marty Men’s Golf opens their two-day competition in Lincoln, Nebraska, today at 10:00 AM.

The invitaitional will be held at Highlands Golf Course, hosted by the Doane Tigers.

Mount Marty Women’s Golf will conclude the Siouxland Women’s Invite today in Sioux Center, Iowa.

The Lancers are 6th as a team, shooting 698 in the opening two rounds. Trinity Palmquist (T-13th) leads the Lancers individually, followed by Abigail Greenhoff (T-15th).

Today’s round will be held at The Ridge Golf Course in Sioux Center.
