The Mount Marty Lancers regained the Catholic Cup on Saturday, defeating Briar Cliff 49-35 at Crane-Youngworth Field.
Quarterback Rugby Ryken threw for 372 yards and 5 touchdowns, while adding 68 yards and another two scores on the ground.
Defensively, the Lancers were led by David Wilson, who recorded a game-high ten tackles, including one for loss. Following his performance, Wilson was named GPAC Defensive Player of the Week by the conference.
The Lancers will be on the road for the first time this week, traveling to Orange City, Iowa, to take on the Northwestern Red Raiders.
The Yankton Bucks fell to 1-1 on Friday with a 44-14 loss to Pierre in a rematch of last season’s 11AA State Championship.
Yankton tallied 375 yards of total offense in the loss, led by Quarterback Jackson Kudera’s 209 yards and 2 touchdowns through the air.
The Bucks are on the road this week, as they take on the Sturgis Brown Scoopers in Sturgis on Friday.
The Cedar Catholic Trojans improved to 2-0 on Friday night with a dominant 60-0 shutout of Schuyler in Hartington.
The Trojans ran for 274 yards and 6 touchdowns as a team, led by 118 yards and 2 scores on just 7 carries for Easton Hochstein.
The Trojans will hit the road for the first time in 2026 this Friday, as they will face Brownell Talbot in Omaha.
Yankton Bucks Golf shot a 311 to take 3rd in a quadrangular at Elmwood Creek Golf Course.
Easton Schelhaas placed 3rd individually with a 1-over 73. Also for the Bucks, Elijah Larson and Kai Cody each shot 79. Gus Sprakel finished at 80, Max Dobler shot 81, and Brayden Byrkeland finished at 83 on the day.
Next up for Yankton is their home invitational on Friday at Hillcrest Golf and Country Club.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Cross Country were in Sioux Falls on Friday for the Augustana Twilight Meet at Yankton Trail Park.
The Bucks finished 16th in Team Score out of 50+ teams. Luke Feimer had the best individual finish, placing 32nd in 16:17.66. Isaac Larrington (74th) and Luke Jacobson (78th) also placed in the top-100 of the 503 athletes who ran in the event
The Gazelles placed 14th as a team, led by a 14th-place finish for Nora Youmans. Avery Wuestewald (44th) and Abby Johanneson (71st) also placed in the top-75. Over 400 athletes competed on the girls’ side.

The Yankton Gazelles split a pair of matches in girls’ tennis action on Friday in Mitchell.
Yankton won four of five singles matches to beat Spearfish 8-1. Karalyn Koerner, Mary Rounds, Harper Anderson, Mary Poeschl and Ramsey Anderson each won in singles play. The Gazelles swept doubles play.
Sioux Falls Jefferson edged Yankton 5-4. Rounds, Poeschl and Ramsey Anderson each won in singles play. Sienna Cuka and Ramsey Anderson won in doubles play.
Yankton travels to Sioux Falls to face Roosevelt this afternoon. Matches begin at 4 PM at Kuehn Park.
Mount Marty Volleyball went 2-2 this past weekend during their four-match swing in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
The Lancers defeated Hannibal-LaGrange in their first match on Friday 3-0, before falling to William Penn 3-1.
Saturday saw the Lancers drop a close 3-2 decision with York, before sweeping Culver-Stockton 3-0.
The Lancers return to GPAC play tomorrow night, taking on the Hastings Broncos in Hastings, Nebraska. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
Mount Marty Men’s Soccer fell to the South Dakota School of Mines on Friday, 3-0, in Pierre.
The Lancers were held to three total shots in the loss, none on net, with Goalkeeper Esteban Gomez making 5 saves.
The Lancer Men will be back in action tomorrow afternoon alongside the women’s program in a doubleheader.
The men will face Minnesota Morris first at 3:30 PM, before the women face Nebraska Wesleyan at 5:30. Pregame coverage streaming on KYNTV is scheduled to begin at 3:00.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Soccer are on the road this afternoon for a doubleheader against Mitchell.
The girls will play first at 4:00 PM, with the boys’ matchup scheduled for 6:00. Varsity matches will be held at Joe Quintal Field.
Yankton Gazelles Volleyball travels to Sioux Falls tonight for a Class AA matchup against O’Gorman.
First serve of the varsity match is scheduled for 6:30 PM at O’Gorman High School.
The South Dakota Coyotes improved to 2-0 on Saturday with a 38-23 road victory over Northern Colorado.
The Coyotes controlled the ground game in the win, rushing for 214 yards and 3 touchdowns as a team. Quarterback Austyn Modrzewski added 178 yards and another two touchdowns through the air.
The Coyotes return home to the DakotaDome on Saturday, hosting Eastern Washington at 1:00 PM.
The South Dakota State Jackrabbits fell to Northwestern on Saturday, 34-18 in Evanston, Illinois.
The Jackrabbits moved the ball well against their FBS opponent with 432 yards of total offense, but were only able to find the end zone once. Kicker Tristan Alvano finished the game 4-for-5 on field goals, tallying 12 of 18 points for SDSU.
The Jackrabbits are back home on Saturday, hosting New Haven at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium in Brookings.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers outscored the Ohio Bobcats 35-8 in the second half on Saturday, on their way to a 49-21 win in their season opener.
New Quarterback Anthony Colandrea threw for 275 yards and 3 TDs. Freshman Running Back Jamal Rule shined in his debut, accounting for 169 yards of total offense with three touchdowns.
The Huskers are set to host Bowling Green on Saturday for their next game. Kickoff from Memorial Stadium is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
