Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Soccer picked up a draw and a win, respectively, last night in their Class AA Soccer doubleheader against Tea.
The Bucks drew with the Titans 2-2 in game one. Tony Guitron and Zane Becker both picked up a goal in the game.
The Gazelles ended the night with a 3-0 shutout over the Titans. Eden Wolfgram tallied 2 goals and an assist, with Iyana Becker adding a goal and an assist of her own.
The Bucks and Gazelles are back in action on Friday, hosting Aberdeen Central in a doubleheader, beginning at 5:00 PM.
Yankton Gazelles Volleyball is 1-0 to start their 2026 season, defeating the Brookings Bobcats last night 3-1 in Brookings, led by 17 kills and 3 blocks from Madison Gukeisen.
The Gazelles trailed 20-14 in the opening set, before scoring 12 of the last 16 points to win 26-24. Yankton would take set two 25-23 and set four 25-22. Yankton’s lone set loss was a 22-25 set three.
The Gazelles host Dakota Valley tomorrow night for their home opener at the Summit Activities Center. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 6:00 PM with first serve scheduled for 6:30.
The Yankton Bucks placed second out of fourteen teams yesterday at the Pierre Invitational Boys Golf Tournament.
Yankton shot a 303 as a team, seven strokes back of first-place Brandon Valley. Easton Schelhaas led the Bucks individually tying for 3rd with a 73. Also in the top-10, Eli Larson shot a 74 to take sixth, and Max Dobler shot 75 for eighth.
Rounding out Yankton’s scoring, Kai Cody and Gus Sprakel each shot 81, and Abe Hanson finished at 82.
Next up for the Bucks in the Huron Invitational on Thursday.
Mount Marty Women’s Golf improved two-places yesterday to finish 8th at their home invitational.
The Lancers shot 337 on day two to finish at 709 for the tournament. Trinity Palmquist led the Lancers, shooting a 170 to place 21st. Also for MMU, Taylor O’Connell finished at 177, Abigail Greenhoff shot 181, Jada Buse scored 186, and Jaden Kortan finished at 189.
Morningside claimed the team title with a 637, while Dakota Wesleyan’s Allison Meyerink finished seven shots clear of the pack to take the individual title.
The Lancers turn their attention to the Friends College Invite, beginning on Monday in Wichita, Kansas.
Mount Marty Women’s Soccer officially begins their 2026 season tonight, hosting Dakota State at Crane-Youngworth Field.
The Lancers finished 2025 with an 8-8-3 overall record, 4-4-3 in the GPAC, advancing past the opening round of the conference tournament for the first time in program history, while setting new records for total wins and conference wins.
Kickoff between the Lancers and Trojans is scheduled for 5:00 PM. Pregame coverage streaming on KYNTV begins at 4:30.
The Yankton Quarterback Club will kick off its 79th season today at the River Rock Event Center in Yankton.
This week’s featured guest speaker will be new USD Head Football Coach Matt Vitzthum (Vit-zum). Vitzthum was named the 32nd head coach in program history this past February after serving as an assistant coach since 2024.
A meal will be available to purchase beginning at 11:15 AM, with the meeting scheduled for noon. The public is invited to attend.
