Yankton Gazelles Soccer picked up their first win of the season on Friday, defeating the Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots 4-2 in Sioux Falls.
Iyana Becker, Teresse Johnson, and Auvianna Seiler all scored in the first half to give Yankton a 3-2 advantage at the break. Becker grabbed another goal with just over twenty minutes remaining, securing the win for the Gazelles.
Yankton is 1-0 to start their 2026 campaign. Yankton will travel west to Rapid City for their next game, taking on Rapid City Central on August 21st.

Yankton Gazelles Tennis split their opening triangular of the 2026 season Friday afternoon in Pierre.
Yankton dropped their opening match to Pierre 5-4. Harper Anderson, Harper Weisenburger, and Ramsey Anderson all won in singles play, with Karalyn Koerner and Mary Rounds picking up a doubles victory.
Yankton ended the day with an 8-1 win over Rapid City Central. The Gazelles swept doubles play en route to the win.

Mount Marty Volleyball is 2-2 to start their season after the Tigers Kickoff Invitational this past weekend in Bourbonnais, Illinois.
The Lancers went 1-1 both days of the event. On Friday, they defeated Freed Hardeman 3-0 while losing to Spring Arbor 3-1. Saturday saw the Lancers win 3-2 over Rochester Christian and fall 3-2 to Montana Tech.
Next up for the Lancers is a four-match swing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They will face Mount Mary and Missouri Valley College on Friday, and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and Goshen College on Saturday.

Yankton returns four seniors from last year’s squad that earned a sixth-place finish at the Class AA State Tournament.

South Dakota State punter Max Pelham was named Friday as one of 14 players included on the preseason watch list for the 2026 FCS Punter of the Year Award.
Pelham was a semifinalist for the award in 2025, when he averaged 47.2 yards on 42 punts, with 18 of his attempts traveling 50 or more yards.
He was a first-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection and an All-America selection by both the American Football Coaches Association (first team) and Associated Press (honorable mention) a season ago.
Also representing the Missouri Valley Football Conference on the watch list was North Dakota’s Luke Silvernale.
The Alexandria Angels and the Harrisburg Woodies are the 2026 SDABA Amateur Baseball State Champions for their respective classes.
Harrisburg claimed the Class A title with a 3-1 win over Renner on Sunday. Jack Sutton led the Woodies at the plate, finishing 4-for-5 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Tanner Brown threw the complete game on the mound, striking out 15 batters.
Alexandria defeated Clark in the Class B Championship, 12-2. The Angels posted 9 runs in the first inning alone. Ben Wilber went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs to power the Angel offense. Dakota Munger pitched the complete game on the mound.
