The South Dakota Class B Amateur Baseball State Tournament begins today in Mitchell, with 32 teams set to compete.
Of this year’s participants, four teams represent the South Central League. The Crofton Bluejays, Wynot Expos, Lesterville Broncs, and the District 6B Champion Tabor Bluebirds will all compete.
Crofton, Wynot, and Lesterville will all compete tomorrow, with Tabor’s first game scheduled for Friday.
The first two games of the tournament will see Elk Point face Parkston, and Valley Springs face the KWL Nationals this evening. All games will be held at Cadwell Park in Mitchell

University of South Dakota swimmer Nick Rounds earned an 8th-place finish this past week at the 2026 USA Swimming & Diving National Championships.
Rounds took 8th in the 100-meter backstroke, setting a new career best with a time of 54.38 seconds, two seconds clear of the previous Coyotes record.
Rounds also posted career-best times in the 50-meter freestyle (22.50 seconds) to place 18th, and the 50-meter backstroke (25.70 seconds) to place 24th, topping the USD records in both events.
Rounds, a Dowling Catholic graduate from West Des Moines, Iowa, is entering his junior year at USD, following a successful sophomore campaign that saw him named the Summit League Swimmer of the Year.
The University of South Dakota had 201 athletes earn 226 spots on the 2025-26 Summit League Academic Honor Roll.
The tally is the fourth most in the conference for the athletic year, one behind a tie for second place.
The track and field program led the way for USD this year, placing just under 70 athletes on the list, 36 women and 33 men. Swimming and diving followed with 48 total honorees, split evenly between the men’s and women’s programs.
To be eligible for the Summit League Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have a grade-point average above 3.20 for the academic year and have competed in a season in which the student-athlete is nominated. The Summit League honored 1,942 student-athletes across 17 sports.
The South Dakota State Jackrabbits had 200 athletes named to this year’s Summit League Academic Honor Roll, including Yankton alum Matthew Mors.
Mors was one of eight SDSU Men’s Basketball Players to be honored, joining Trey Buchanan, Jadyn Cascio Jensen, Caleb Delzell, Kalen Garry, Davis Kern, Jaden Rogers, and Alec Squires.
