Yankton Post 12 will host Aberdeen Smittys Post 24 tomorrow night in the opening game of the Class A Legion Baseball first round.
Yankton enters the postseason as the #3 seed with a 15-6 Class A record, while Aberdeen is ranked #14 at 6-17. Yankton swept Aberdeen in the regular season, winning 9-0 and 9-4.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM tomorrow night. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 6:30 with Brayden Butler and Josh Boelter on the call.
The District 6B Amateur Baseball Tournament bracket is set, with the Tabor Bluebirds earning the #1 seed and a first-round bye.
Tabor finished 2nd in the South Central League this season with a 10-4 league record, two games clear of 3rd place Wynot.
This year’s tournament will be held in Menno, with the first game between #4 Lesterville and #5 Freeman scheduled for 7:30 PM Thursday.

The Yankton Dingers won the upper division of the South Dakota Class A Fifth Grade baseball tournament this past weekend in Watertown.
Yankton started the weekend going a perfect 3-0 in pool play, outscoring their opponents 34-6.
In bracket play, Yankton defeated Brookings 6-3 in the semifinals before claiming the title with an 8-2 win over MAG.
The University of South Dakota sports medicine team has announced the promotion of Brooke Opdahl to the Head Football Athletic Trainer position for Coyote football ahead of the 2026 season, announced on Monday morning.
Opdahl has spent the last four seasons on staff at South Dakota as the Assistant Football Athletic Trainer, after joining the USD sports medicine team in January 2022 as part of her graduate program’s athletic training clinical experience.
Alongside her training at USD, Opdahl worked in three other athletic training clinical experiences, the University of Colorado at Boulder women’s soccer program, Avera Physical Therapy, and with the South Dakota State track & field program.
Tickets are now on sale for the 2026 South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet, scheduled for September 13th in Sioux Falls.
This year’s inductees include Taylor Baker, Mike Begeman, Howard Blumhardt, Frank Cutler, Julie (Krauth) Dearring, Laticia DeCory, Jim Dorman, Dan Freidel, Barry French, Jeff Fylling, Randi (Morgan) Haines, Mylo Jackson, Greg Jimmerson, Louis Koupal, Tim Miles, Mike Miller, Kent Mueller, John Papendick, Thelma (Austin) Smalley, Jim Sorensen, and Jason Sutherland, with Blumhardt, French, Fylling, Jackson, Koupal, and Smalley being inducted posthumously.
