Ten Yankton teams competed at the USA Softball South Dakota Youth Fastpitch Class A/B State Championships, with the Fury Outlaws capturing the 12u “B” Gold Bracket.
Yankton recorded ten hits as a team, cruising to a 12-0 win. Elizabeth Goeken ended the game 2-for-3 with a triple while driving in four runs.

USA Softball South Dakota Youth Fastpitch Class A/B State Championships:
18u Division:
- The Fury Gazelles were placed in the “B” Silver bracket after going 0-2 in pool play. They were eliminated by Rapid City Sliders, 10-0.
16u Division:
- The Fury Lancers topped Pool E, finishing 2-0. They would win their first game in “A” bracket play 10-4, before falling to NextPlay 605 8-7, and Tea Lightning 10-2 to be eliminated from the tournament.
14u Division:
- Fury Diamonds advanced to the “A” bracket after pool play. They went 0-2 in bracket play, falling in an elimination game 7-6 to Rapid City Aces.
- Fury Black would advance to the “B” Gold bracket after pool play, where they would go 0-2 with losses to Sioux Falls Lightning, 15-4, and TSC Twisters, 9-6.
12u Division:
- Fury Red went 1-1 in Pool C to qualify for the “B” Gold bracket. They would go 0-2 in bracket play, falling to SD Braves 2-1 and BV Blitz 8-1.
- Fury Lancers topped Pool D 2-0 to earn a spot in the “A” bracket. After falling in game one, Yankton would win two straight before being eliminated by BV Blitz 7-2.
- Fury Outlaws went 1-1 to place 2nd in Pool G. They would go on to win the “B” Gold bracket, outscoring their opponents 38-9 over four games.
- Fury Storm went 2-0 to top Pool H, earning a spot in the “A” bracket. They would go 0-2 in bracket play, with a 9-0 loss to the Fury Lancers ending their campaign.
10u Division:
- Fury Lancers went 1-2 in “A” bracket play. They fell in game one 9-7 to Sioux Falls Flash, before defeating Sanford Red 9-8. Their final game was a 4-1 loss to Sioux Falls Bandits.
- Fury White went 0-2 in “B” bracket play, falling to ThunderCats 17-3 and TSC Ice 15-4.
Yankton Post 12 dropped both of their games on Saturday to finish the Gopher Classic Legion Baseball Tournament 1-3.
Yankton fell to Farmington in game one, 8-1, and then to Eden Prairie 4-3 to round out their weekend.
Kaden Hunhoff and Simon Kampshoff put up impressive numbers despite the 1-3 record. Hunhoff threw a complete game no-hitter in Yankton’s first game of the tournament, while Kampshoff posted a team-high .500 batting average, going 5-for-10 at the plate with three doubles.
Yankton returns to Class A play tomorrow afternoon with a road doubleheader against Mitchell. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
The Yankton Lakers wrapped up a near-perfect regular season in the South Central League last night, defeating Freeman 18-2.
Drew Ryken pounded a pair of home runs for four RBIs in the win. Joe Gokie also launched a long ball, with six RBIs to his credit.
The Black Sox were led offensively by Rocky Ammen. Ammen finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple.
Yankton ends their SCL regular season with a 13-1 league record, their lone loss coming to Tabor last week. Freeman is now 6-7 in league play, with one game remaining against Wynot next Sunday.
The Tabor Bluebirds kept their momentum rolling last night, earning a 13-2 win over Crofton in South Central League play.
Matt Brown was the catalyst for the Tabor offense, ending the night with three hits, five RBIs, a home run, and a double. Josiah Peterson pitched four shutout innings for the win.
Tabor ends their regular season against Irene on Thursday, while Crofton is done with SCL play, finishing the regular season at 5-9.
The Wynot Expos topped the Irene Cardinals last night, 10-4 in South Central League action.
Jesse Lundal and Lee Heimes combined for a chunk of Crofton’s offensive output. Lundal drove in three runs, while Heimes scored three times.
Dustin Livingston led the Cardinals in the loss, ending the night 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple.
Both teams have one regular-season game remaining in the SCL. Irene travels to Tabor on Thursday, while Wynot is on the road against Freeman next Sunday.
