Yankton Post 12 split their legion baseball doubleheader with Spearfish Post 164 last night at Riverside Field.
Spearfish took game one 4-3, led by starting pitcher Sean Sewell, who threw seven strikeouts over six innings. Despite taking the loss, Beck Ryken tallied nine strikeouts and was not credited with an earned run allowed.
Yankton flipped the script in game two, winning 4-3 to end the night. Sam Gokie took the win on the mound, pitching a complete game with four strikeouts.
Yankton is now 17-7 on the year, 12-5 in Class A play. They will travel to Minnesota this weekend for the Gopher Classic Legion Baseball Tournament.
The South Dakota Coyotes Men’s Basketball program announced yesterday that they will take on Utah Tech on November 22nd inside the Sanford Pentagon.
This will be the first game at the Pentagon since 2023 for USD, and their 14th in program history.
The Coyotes and the Trailblazers have only met twice before, with Utah Tech winning both games by five points or fewer.
Game time, broadcast information, and ticket sales will be finalized at a later date.
University of South Dakota Softball Coach Shannon Pivovar (Piv-o-var) has announced the addition of Liz Malarski as the new pitching coach for the Coyotes.
Malarski is the first coaching staff hire for Pivovar since taking over as head coach earlier this summer.
Malarski comes to Vermillion after spending the 2026 season at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where she helped coach a pair of pitchers with 80+ innings of work that had a sub-2.00 ERA.
Prior to becoming a coach, Malarski played three seasons at Edgewood University in Wisconsin, recording a 3.47 ERA in the circle.
The University of South Dakota Men’s and Women’s Swim and Dive Teams have both been named academic All-Scholar teams from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
The USD women earned the honor for the 21st consecutive season after a team GPA of 3.56. The men collected their 16th straight award with a 3.47 team GPA.
Individually, Nick Rounds was named a First Team Scholar All-American. The 2025-26 Summit League Swimmer of the Year and NCAA Championships qualifier is a business major at USD.
All eight South Central League Amateur Baseball teams are set to take the field on Thursday, in the final quadruple-header of the season.
The league standings are tight heading into the final stretch of the season, with only a single game separating 3rd from 7th.
On Thursday, Wynot will host Crofton, Irene will host Menno, Freeman hosts Lesterville, and Yankton hosts Tabor. All games are scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM.
