The Tabor Bluebirds picked up a dominant win over Lesterville last night, shutting out the Broncs 16-0 in South Central League amateur baseball action.
Tabor recorded nineteen hits, including five home runs, in the win. Josiah Peterson led Tabor at the plate and on the mound, finishing 4-for-5 with a run and an RBI, while throwing a seven-inning shutout with eight strikeouts.
Lesterville tallied seven hits as a team, led by two each for Tyler Edler and Derek Quame. Alex Wagner took the loss on the mound.
With the win, Tabor jumps to 2nd place in the South Central League standings. Both teams return to play on Sunday, Tabor travels to Freeman, and Lesterville is on the road against Wynot.

The Crofton Blue Jays and Wynot Expos are set to square off this evening in a battle of the two Nebraska representatives of the South Central League.
Crofton got back into the win column in their last game, defeating Menno 16-5, while Wynot is looking to end a two-game skid in league play.
First pitch between the Blue Jays and the Expos is scheduled for 7:30 PM this evening in Crofton.
Former Crofton girls’ basketball players Hannah Schieffer, Jaida Allen, and Lexi Wiebelhaus were recognized by the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference as members of the Spring Academic All-Region First-Team.
Shieffer, Allen, and Wiebelhaus were three of 112 student-athletes from Northeast Community College to earn the honor.
To qualify for the first team, student-athletes had to maintain a 3.5 grade point average.
South Dakota men’s basketball’s Melo Sanchez has been officially invited to be part of the Mexican Men’s Senior Basketball Pre-Selection Team, as announced by Mexico Basketball on Thursday.
Sanchez will head to the team’s training camp this week, before playing a pair of qualifier games in July against Nicaragua today and the United States on July 6.
If selected for the Men’s Senior National Team, Sanchez will represent Mexico in window three of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027 Qualifiers.
