The Yankton County Financial Committee discussed a potential levy for roads and bridges at Tuesday’s meeting.
Yankton County Commission Chair, John Marquardt, says the levy would need to be approved by 4/5ths of the county commission.
Marquardt says if the commission had approved the levy in 2025, it would have covered the county’s portion of the cost of the Stone Church Bridge replacement project.
There will be an event hosted by Yankton Thrive tonight at the Elks Lodge to discuss the levy at 6 pm.
Marquardt says the commission will also bring the levy forward at their meeting next Tuesday.
