Yankton Post 12 swept their legion baseball doubleheader last night against Smitty’s Legion of Aberdeen.
Yankton cruised to a 9-0 win in game one, led by a complete game shutout on the mound for Beck Ryken. Easton Feser finished 3 for 4 at the plate to power the offense.
Post 12 would put up five runs in the first inning of game two, en route to a 9-4 victory. Boston Frick was credited with the win, striking out three batters over 4 ⅓ innings of relief. Tate Beste drove in three runs for Yankton.
Yankton will travel to Sioux Falls on Friday for the opening day of the Dakota Classic. Yankton will play Pierre and Ralston (NE) on Friday and Columbus (NE) and Kindred (ND) on Saturday in pool play.
Yankton High School athlete Quinn Brinkman is attempting to raise $2,500 to compete at the Nike Outdoor Track and Field Nationals, June 18th through 21st in Eugene, Oregon.
Brinkman just finished an impressive junior season at YHS, placing 2nd in the high jump, 3rd in the triple jump, and 12th in the long jump at the Class AA State Track and Field Championships.

Three South Dakota track and field student-athletes have earned Academic All-Summit League honors, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Marleen Mülla has earned her second outdoor academic all-conference honor for the Coyote women, and Bennett Schwenn (third outdoor honor) and Piercze Marshall (first outdoor honor) received the honor for the Coyote men.
The top 15 eligible men’s and women’s student-athletes voted on by the conference’s Sports Information Directors (SIDs) and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs) are named to the academic all-conference teams. Voters consider both the student-athlete’s academic and athletic success.
The first South Dakota Amateur Baseball poll of the 2026 season was released yesterday, with the Yankton Lakers currently ranked 3rd in Class A.
The Lakers have been impressive through their first ten games of the season, going 9-1 while averaging 13.7 runs per game, while allowing 3.6.
The lone South Central League team represented in the Class B poll was Lesterville, who were receiving votes.
