Yankton Post 12 fell to Seward Post 33 yesterday afternoon in the semifinals of the Lewis & Clark Legion Baseball Classic.
Yankton was held to two hits as a team, one from Brennan Gilmore and one from Sam Gokie. Seward’s Deklan Lindau (Lind-ow), a Mount Marty Baseball commit, threw the complete game on the mound, striking out 12 batters.
Yankton finished the Lewis & Clark Classic 4-1 overall, sweeping their pool. Seward would fall to Sioux Falls West in the championship game, 10-6.
Post 12 returns to league play on Tuesday, as they travel to Aberdeen for a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 1:00 PM tomorrow afternoon.
Yankton United girls’ soccer fell to Bemidji Extreme yesterday afternoon, 1-0, in the finals of the 19u Stripes division of the NSC All-American Cup
Yankton was undefeated heading into the finals, finishing pool play 2-0, outscoring their opponents 7-0.
Earlier in the day, Yankton took a 4-0 win over Xolos (Show-los) Academy in the semifinals. Auvianna Seiler scored a brace in the win, with Eden Wolfgram and Josslyn Elwood adding a goal each.
Yankton United also competed in the 15u girls’ stripes division during the tournament, falling in the consolation bracket 2-1 to Minnesota Rush after finishing pool play 0-2 with losses to Fire SC and Waconia SC.
The Elk Point-Jefferson Huskies are the Class A Softball State Runner-Up, as they fell to Dakota Valley in Saturday’s State Championship 9-6.
Dakota Valley jumped out to an early 9-1 and weathered a late comeback for the win. Brynn Ramos led the Panthers at the plate with 3 hits, while the Huskies offense was powered by 3 hits from Laney Trometer.
EPJ ends their season with an 11-7 overall record, having made their first-ever state semifinal and state championship appearances.
Beresford ends the Class A State Tournament in 6th after their 9-5 loss to Sioux Valley in the consolation finals.
Tavyn Tiedeman, Rylie Laurvick, and Harley Koth all recorded a pair of hits each for the Watch Dogs.
Beresford ends their 2026 campaign with a 17-10 overall record. The Watchdogs graduate three seniors, including Mount Marty Softball recruit Tavyn Tiedeman.
The Gayville-Volin Raiders end their 2026 season with a 3rd place finish in the Class B Softball State Tournament after their 7-0 shutout of Hanson on Saturday.
Jolie Westrum tallied a pair of hits to power the Raiders’ offense, while striking out five batters in the circle. Paisley Dimmer added a double at the plate.
Dimmer and Westrum were both named to the Class B All-Tournament Team after the game. The Raiders end the year with a 16-6 overall record.
Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy ended their final Softball campaign on a high note, claiming a Class B Consolation Championship on Saturday.
FMFA defeated Redfield in their final game. Harli Ross recorded 13 strikeouts for the win in the circle, with Aubree Tschetter (Chetter) recording two hits at the plate.
The Phoenix ended the season with a 13-8 overall record. The co-op between Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy now comes to an end, as Freeman Academy has closed their doors, while Marion has entered into an all-sports co-op with Parker.
The Avon Pirates secured a 7th-place finish on Saturday, defeating Florence/Henry 13-3 in the Class B Softball State Tournament.
Rilyn Thury and Kaydence Metzger mirrored each other at the plate, as both drove in three runs for the Pirates on a pair of hits. Metzger also earned the win in the circle, tallying 8 strikeouts.
The win was the first state tournament victory in program history for Avon. The Pirates were 0-5 in state tournament play prior to the win.
