The Yankton Bucks host the Sturgis Scoopers tomorrow afternoon in game one of the Class A Baseball Super Regionals.
The Bucks wrapped up the regular season on a six-game win streak, earning the #4 seed with an 18-4 record. Sturgis is the #13 seed at 8-6 in Class A play.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM tomorrow night. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 5:30 with Brayden Butler and Josh Boelter.
The Yankton Bucks had nine athletes earn Academic All-State recognition from the South Dakota High School Baseball Association.
Selected for the Bucks were Easton Feser, Samuel Gokie, Tate Beste, Beck Ryken, Carter Boomsma, Kaden Hunhoff, Brennen Gilmore, Ryan Turner, and Liam Villanueva.
To be named Academic All-State, a senior must maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
The Mount Marty Lancers have qualified four athletes and a relay team for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
Logan Ferrari and Joseph Cross both qualified in the men’s 10,000, Kellan Odell qualified for the men’s javelin, Mya Zohner qualified for the women’s pole vault, and the Lancer men qualified for the 1600-meter relay.
The NAIA Outdoor Championships will take place May 20th through the 22nd on the campus of North Carolina-Asheville.
The South Central Amateur Baseball League opens its 2026 league season tonight with a quadruple header of games.
Irene will host Tabor, Lesterville hosts Wynot, Yankton travels to Menno, and Crofton is on the road against Freeman.
All games are scheduled for a 7:30 PM first pitch.
The Yankton Gazelles will travel to Mitchell tomorrow morning for a Class AA Golf invitational at Lake View Golf Course. Tee time is scheduled for 10:30 AM.
