Yankton Bucks Tennis is third as a team after the opening day of the Eastern South Dakota Conference Tournament.
Yankton sits at 112 match points after day one. Harrison Krajewski, Chris Rockne, Ethan Marsh, Jack Pedersen, and Zane Becker all won their opening matchups in singles play. In doubles, Krajewski and Luke Moeller won at flight one, and Pedersen and Becker won at flight three. Harrisburg (150) and Brandon Valley (138) currently hold the top two spots.
The tournament is scheduled to conclude today, with matches set to be played at Yankton High School and Memorial Park, beginning at 8:00 AM.
The schedule for the 2026 South Dakota High School Baseball Class A Super Regionals has been set, with Yankton hosting Sturgis in a three-game series Friday and Saturday.
The 4th-seeded Bucks ended the season on a six-game win streak, earning 43.091 seed points with an 18-4 overall record. Sturgis enters as the 13th seed with an 8-6 record in Class A.
Game one of the series will be held Friday night at Riverside Field at 6:00 PM. Game two will be played at 10:00 AM Saturday, with game three, if necessary, to follow.
The Mount Marty Lancers finished 10th overall in the GPAC All-Sports Rankings for the 2025-26 athletic year.
The Lancers placed 7th in the men’s rankings and 10th in the women’s. The Lancers finished top-8 in all but three sports they compete in, earning program-best finishes in six sports, and tying a program best in a seventh sport.
Dordt won the overall title, placing 1st in the women’s standings and 4th in the men’s. Northwestern took the top spot in the men’s rankings.
The Yankton Lakers defeated the Lesterville Broncs last night in a non-SCL amateur baseball matchup at Riverside Field.
Joe Gokie led Yankton, finishing 3 for 3 at the plate. Easton Nelson added a pair of hits as well in the win.
South Central League play begins on Thursday for both teams. Yankton will travel to Menno while Lesterville hosts Wynot.
Yankton Gazelles Golf hosts the Mitchell Kernels this afternoon for their annual Marchand Cup matchup.
The Ryder Cup-style dual will be contested at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton. Tee time is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
Yankton Gazelles Softball travels to Beresford this afternoon for an interclass matchup with the Watchdogs.
The Gazelles are currently ranked 11th in Class AA with a 6-10 overall record. Beresford is ranked 5th in Class A at 11-6.
First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM this afternoon in Beresford.
