Mount Marty standout Kayleen Jacinto (Ha-seen-tow) has been selected second team All-GPAC for Softball.
Jacinto led the Lancers in almost every major hitting category, finishing her senior season with a .372 average, 42 hits, 10 doubles, 7 triples, 5 home runs, and 30 RBIs.
A trio of Lancers also earned honorable mentions, Junior Makayla Hudson, and Freshmen Kalli Boom and Brigid McGill.
Mount Marty ended their 2026 season with a 14-28 overall record, 5-17 in GPAC play.
Yankton Gazelles Softball picked up their fifth victory Monday evening, defeating Vermillion 12-6 at Sertoma Park.
Jocelyn Behrns was perfect at the plate for the Gazelles, ending the day 3-for-3 with a pair of runs.
Reese Garry threw the complete game for the win in the circle, recording three strikeouts.
The Gazelles have won 3 of their last 4 games after a 2-7 start. Next up is a neutral site matchup with Rapid City Stevens in Mitchell on Friday.
Yankton Bucks Tennis won 16 of 18 matches played yesterday afternoon during a quadrangular in Mitchell.
Yankton started their day with a 9-0 sweep of Pierre. Ethan Marsh dominated his match at flight four singles, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Yankton would defeat the hosts, Mitchell, in their second matchup 7-2. Harrison Krajewski, Luke Moeller, Chris Rockne, Jack Pedersen, and Zane Becker all picked up singles wins. Krajewski and Moeller, and Rockne and Marsh won in doubles play.
The Bucks have a quick turnaround, as they travel to Sioux Falls today to take on Sioux Falls Christian and Sioux Falls Lincoln, beginning at 11:00 AM.
Yankton Gazelles Golf will compete in Sioux Falls this morning in a varsity quadrangular.
Yankton will compete against Mitchell, Sioux Falls Jefferson, and Sioux Falls Lincoln at Bakker Crossing Golf Course.
Tee time is scheduled for 9:00 AM this morning.
Former South Dakota State Women’s Basketball star and reigning Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year, Brooklyn Meyer, will compete on a different court next year, as she announced this past week that she will be part of the SDSU Volleyball roster next season.
Meyer, a multi-time All-American, exhausted her basketball eligibility this past season, but is permitted by the NCAA to play a fifth season in another sport.
Meyer is listed as a middle blocker on the Jackrabbits roster. During her extra athletic year, Meyer is pursuing a master’s degree in the classroom in nutrition and dietetics.
Former South Dakota State Men’s Basketball standout Damon Wilkinson announced his commitment to the University of Nebraska as a transfer over the weekend.
Wilkinson, a 6’10 center from De Smet, was the second leading scorer and top rebounder for the Jacks last season, averaging 13.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
Wilkinson also led the team in blocks with 27, and was 5th in assists, as the Jackrabbits finished the season with a 14-18 record, 7-9 in Summit League play.
