The Mount Marty Lancers sit 8th as a team after the opening day of the GPAC Women’s Golf Tournament in Dakota Dunes.
Through the opening 27 holes, the Lancers shot a combined 541. Trinity Palmquist currently leads MMU, tied for 9th with a 125.
Also for the Lancers, Abigail Greenhoff shot 136, Jaden Kortan shot 140, and Kamri Kittelson shot 141. Jada Buse played the opening 18 holes, carding a 111 for MMU. Gacie Brockberg sits at 41 through the first 9 holes of round two.
The final 27 holes of the tournament will be played today.
The Yankton Bucks return to the diamond this afternoon for a high school baseball clash with Sioux Falls Washington.
The Bucks currently sit second in the Class A standings with a 10-2 overall record following their split with O’Gorman last week.

Forecasted weather has adjusted the Yankton Gazelles tee time today for their girls’ golf invitational in Pierre.
The meet will now begin an hour later at 11:00 AM. The competition will be held at Hillsview Golf Course in the state capital.
Yankton Bucks Tennis will travel to Vermillion this afternoon for a triangular against the Tanagers and Lennox.
Action begins at 11:00 AM when Vermillion faces Lennox. The Bucks will then face Lennox at 1:00 PM, before rounding out the day against Vermillion at 3:00.
Matches will be held at the University of South Dakota Tennis Courts.
Yankton Gazelles Softball will host the Mitchell Kernels tonight for a Class AA matchup at Sertoma Park.
The Gazelles are 2-7 on the year, coming off a loss to the Sioux Falls Lincoln Patriots last Friday night.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM this evening.
The GPAC Baseball Tournament begins tomorrow, and the 7th-seeded Mount Marty Lancers are set to compete in the Concordia Pod.
Entering the postseason, the Lancers hold a 19-29 overall record, finishing 10-18 in league play.
The Lancers will take on Concordia in their opening game tomorrow at 6:00 PM. Pregame coverage from Sherman Park in Lincoln, Nebraska, is scheduled for 5:30 with Tehl Tanner on the call.
Crofton Warriors’ distance runner Avery Arens took home 4th place in the girls’ high school mile run on Saturday at the Drake Relays.
Arens, a freshman, finished the race in 4:54.84. Cedar Falls’ (Iowa) Charlee Gall won the race in 4:50.45.
South Dakota women’s basketball head coach Carrie Eighmey has announced the signing of transfer Ava Miller.
Miller spent last season at North Dakota, averaging 7.9 points and 7.2 rebounds while starting 28 of the 31 games she appeared in for the Fighting Hawks.
Before her time in Grand Forks, Miller appeared in 30 games, making 18 starts at USC Upstate. For her collegiate career, she has totaled 337 points and 318 rebounds in 61 games.
During her prep career, Miller was a two-sport standout at Mayo High School in Rochester, Minnesota, where she was a multi-time all-conference basketball and volleyball player.
