Mount Marty’s Osiel Cantu took first place in the men’s 400-meter hurdles yesterday to lead the Lancers at the Friends University Track and Field Invitational.
Cantu won the event with a time of 54.30 seconds. Cantu also ran on the Lancers ‘ 8th-place 1600 relay team alongside Zavio Pratto, Carl Massa, and Bastien Furstoss. Pratto also took home 5th in the men’s 400.
The Lancer women were led by a pair of 7th-place finishes. Taylor Hinojosa was 7th in the women’s 400 hurdles, and Mya Zohner took 7th in the pole vault.
The meet concludes today in Wichita, Kansas.
Yankton High School athletics are off this weekend for the Easter holiday, with activities scheduled to resume on Monday.
The Bucks Baseball team will return to action first, as they take on Sioux Falls Jefferson and Sioux Falls Lincoln in Sioux Falls. The Bucks will face Jefferson at 5:00 PM and Lincoln at 7:30 PM.
Bucks Tennis, Bucks and Gazelles Track and Field, and Gazelles Softball will all return tomcompetition on Tuesday.
Tennis will host a triangular against Brandon Valley and Sioux Falls Roosevelt. Matches are scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM.
Softball will travel to Pierre on Tuesday to take on the Governors, with first pitch scheduled for 4:00 PM.
Track and Field will compete in a multi-team event at Sioux Falls Lincoln. Field events begin at 2:30 PM with running events scheduled for 4:00 PM.
Mount Marty Baseball travels to Hastings, Nebraska, today to take on the Hastings Broncos in a GPAC doubleheader.
The Lancers are currently 13-19 on the year with a 4-8 conference record. The Broncos enter with a 16-14 overall record, an identical 4-8 mark in GPAC play.
Game one is scheduled for 1:00 PM, with game two to follow.
Mount Marty Softball returns to the field on Monday to host the Midland Warriors in a GPAC doubleheader.
The games were originally scheduled to be held earlier this week, but were postponed due to inclement weather.
First pitch of game one is set for 3:00 PM Monday evening, with game two to follow.
