Craig Named YPD Officer of the Year

Brett Craig has been named the 2025 Yankton Police Department Officer of the Year.

Craig, who spent four years in the U.S. Army as an airborne infantryman before he was medically discharged, says conversations with his uncle, who is a retired captain for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department in Nebraska helped him decide his next career path.

Craig has been with the YPD for three years now, and says he loves his new career.

Craig was honored with the YPD Officer of the Year award at a recent awards banquet.
