The Yankton Gazelles claimed their first-ever bowling state championship last week, going undefeated in bracket play.
The Gazelles topped the qualifying round with a score of 2,021, before going undefeated in bracket play, defeating Sioux Falls Washington to claim the championship.
This is the second straight year a Yankton team has won a state bowling title after the Bucks won last year. The Bucks followed that championship with a 3rd place finish this season.
Mount Marty Baseball opens their 5-game stretch in Melbourne, Florida this evening, taking on Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
The Lancers are 7-6 on the season, coming off a pair of losses to Bismarck State on February 27th.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM Central this evening.
Mount Marty Softball is also in Florida for their next run of games, as they will play ten games over six days in Viera, Florida.
The Lancers enter this stretch of games with a 2-5 overall record, coming off a 14-1 win over Viterbo in their last game.
Their first two games of the stretch will take place today, as they face Carolina University at 10:00 AM and Spring Arbor University at 12:15 PM.
Crofton Warriors Boys Basketball will travel to Fremont, Nebraska, tonight to take on Bergan Catholic in the District C2-2 Finals.
The Warriors enter the district finals as the #15 seed with an 18-7 overall record. The Knights are 24-1 on the year, having won six straight games.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM. The winner will earn a spot in next week’s Boys State Tournament.
Crofton Warriors Girls Basketball returns to the State Tournament tomorrow afternoon, as they take on Elkhorn Valley in the opening round in Class C2.
The Warriors enter as the #7 seed in the tournament with a 19-7 record. The #2-seeded Falcons are undefeated in the year at 26-0.
Tip-off from the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln is scheduled for 1:30 PM. Pregame coverage on Riverfront Sports 94.3 FM and KYNTV is set for 1:15 with Scott Ulrich on the call.
The Avon Pirates are moving on in the Region 4B Boys’ Basketball Tournament, following last night’s 63-60 overtime victory over Alcester-Hudson.
Zander Fathke stuffed the stat sheet for Avon, finishing with 24 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals, and 5 assists.
The Pirates will face the top-seeded Viborg-Hurley Cougars today in Hurley. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
