Yankton Bucks Baseball was defeated by Lennox 5 to 4 on Saturday, with the Bucks being held to 3 hits as a team.

Gavin Johnson recorded two of those hits, adding an RBI as well. Kaden Hughes was given the loss in the decision, allowing 1 unearned run over 1 inning of work, striking out 3 batters.

Yankton is back in action tomorrow, hosting Sioux Falls Jefferson in a doubleheader. The first pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:00 PM with pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV beginning at 4:30.

Yankton Gazelles Softball picked up a pair of wins on Friday defeating Spearfish 20 to 10 and Pierre 12 to 0.

In game one, Payton Moser went 4 for 4 with a home run, finishing a double short of the cycle, while Camryn Koletzky added 5 RBIs

In game two, Kyra Tjeerdsma went 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Tori Hansen pitched a complete game shutout on the mound.

Yankton has won three straight games heading into their next contest today, on the road against Tea. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 PM.

Mount Marty Baseball swept Hastings over the weekend, scoring 30 total runs over the 4-game series.

The Lancers won game one 3 to 0, game two 15 to 7, game three 4 to 2, and game four 8 to 5.  Ryan Bachman and Bodi Wallar each hit home runs over the series, with Wallar finishing the weekend 8 for 15 with 7 runs scored and 3 RBIs.

The Lancers have a split series with Briar Cliff set for next weekend, with Saturday’s doubleheader held in Yankton and Sunday’s doubleheader in Sioux City.

Mount Marty Softball went 3 and 1 this weekend, splitting a pair of games with Morningside and sweeping a doubleheader against the College of St Mary.

Against Morningside, the Lancers lost game one 5 to 4 before winning game two 3 to 2. Autumn Porter led the Lancers to the win in game two, with her 7th-inning home run being the deciding run in the split.

Against the College of St Mary, The Lancers won game one 3 to 1 and game two 4 to 3. Janeah Castro went 2 for 5 with 3 RBIs and 2 home runs over the two games.

Mount Marty is back home on Friday, hosting Midland in a GPAC doubleheader.

Mount Marty’s Gabrielle Goodrich set a new school record in the women’s hammer throw over the weekend with a toss of 147 feet and 1 inch during the Sioux City Relays.

Goodrich’s record throw placed her 9th in the meet. Edwin Nyamutswa (Nee-uh-moot-swa) and Zelie Sorensen were voted men’s and women’s MVP respectively in the university/college division. Nyamutswa took 1st in both the men’s 100 and 200, while Sorensen was 1st in the women’s 100 and medley relay alongside Calli Davis, Tianna Bumbaca-Kuehl, and Josey Wahlstrom.

Next up for MMU is the Red Raider Open in Orange City, Iowa, beginning on April 19th.

Yankton Bucks Track and Field earned five event victories at the Corn Palace Relays over the weekend, with the Gazelles taking multiple podium finishes as well.

For the Bucks, Lance Dannenbring won the javelin with a throw of 153 feet 9 inches. Austin Gobel won the 100-meter, Dylan Payer won the 1600-meter, Cale Haselhorst won the 110-meter hurdles, and Tucker Gilmore won the triple jump.

For the Gazelles, Shae Rumsey was 2nd in the 400 and 3rd in the 1600 relay alongside Burkley Olson, Auviana Seiler, and Josslyn Elwood. Olson also took 3rd in the long jump. Seventh grader Rozlyn Adamson placed in the top-5 twice, 4th in the 200 and 5th in the 100.

Next up for Yankton is a meet at Sioux Falls Washington High School tomorrow. Events begin at 4:00 PM.

Mount Marty Men’s Tennis picked up their 10th win of the year on Saturday, sweeping Hastings 7 to 0.

The Lancers improved to 10 and 3 overall, 3 and 1 in GPAC play, with the win. Next up for MMU is a road matchup with Northwestern on Wednesday.

Mount Marty Women’s Tennis fell to Hastings College 4 matches to 3 in a close dual over the weekend.

Vakeria Torres and Yankton alum Kayla Marsh picked up the Lancers’ wins in singles play. Torres and Suri Gomes captured the lone win in doubles play for MMU.

. Next up for MMU, now 4 and 5 on the year, is a road matchup with Northwestern on Wednesday.

Yankton Bucks Tennis is back in action tomorrow, as they take on Sioux Falls Washington at Yankton High School. Matches are scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM.

Mount Marty Men’s Golf is in Orange City, Iowa today for a tournament at Landsmeer Golf Course. Tee time is scheduled for 10:00 AM.

Mount Marty Women’s Golf is in Lincoln, Nebraska today for day one of the Kaitlyn Erickson Invitational. Tee time from Wilderness Ridge is scheduled for 10:00 AM.

Yankton Gazelles Golf travels to Brookings tomorrow for a quadrangular at Brookings Country Club against Brookings, Brandon Valley, and Harrisburg. Tee time is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
