Mount Marty Baseball improved to 18 and 13 over the weekend, winning three of four games in their series against Midland.

The Lancers swept day one, defeating the Warriors 5 to 2 and 10 to 9. Mount Marty would drop the opening game of day two 4 to 3, before ending the series with a 13 to 10 victory.

The Lancers return home for their next games on Friday, as they host Dordt for a doubleheader at Riverside Field.

The Mount Marty Track and Field Team claimed multiple top-5 finishes at the Wayne State Wildcat Classic last week, including three event victories, two from Edwin Nyamutswa in the men’s 100 and 200, and one for Tianna Bumbaca-Kuehl in the women’s 400 hurdles.

Elsewhere for the Lancers, Marcus Jnofinn was 2nd in the men’s 100, Andrea Sucha finished 3rd in the women’s pole vault, Alexus Motley placed 4th in the women’s javelin, Calli Davis took 4th in the women’s 400, Zavio Pratto was 5th in the men’s 400, and Josey Wahlstrom finished 5th in the women’s 800.

Next up for MMU is the USD Early Bird Meet, beginning on April 5th in Vermillion.

Yankton High School Track and Field travels to Sioux Falls tomorrow for a quadrangular against Sioux City East, Sioux City West, and Sioux Falls Washington. Events are scheduled to begin at 3:45 PM.

Yankton Bucks Tennis has a triangular tomorrow in Brandon, taking on Brandon Valley and Milbank. Matches are scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM.

Mount Marty Men’s Tennis picked up their 9th win of the season on Friday, defeating Midland 4 to 3.

Pablo Rivest, Alejandro Polo, Luis Lanier, and Gonzalo Medina all picked up singles victories for the Lancers.

MMU travels to Crete, Nebraska to take on Doane in their next duel on Saturday.

Mount Marty Women’s Tennis fell to 3 and 4 on Friday, as they were swept by Midland 7 to 0. Next up for MMU is a duel with Doane on Saturday in Crete.

The Class AA girls won the 3-Class Shootout over the weekend, thanks in part to a 16-point performance from Yankton Senior Claire Tereshinski.

Class AA defeated Class B in the final game 82 to 76. Lucy Moore was named game MVP for Class AA, scoring a game-high 19 points. 

Class AA also defeated Class A during the event, 89 to 85. Tereshinski recorded 5 points and 4 rebounds in the win.

Landon Potts represented the Yankton Bucks for the Class AA boys in the 3-Class Shootout over the weekend, scoring 8 points in Class AA’s loss to Class A.

Jaxson Wingert scored a game-high 26 to lead Class A to the win, while Naser Ismail led Class AA in scoring with 19.

Class B would claim the title in the 3-Class Shootout, defeating Class A 117 to 113 in the final game. Jackson Schauer tallied 32 points for Class B in the win.

South Dakota Women’s Basketball had their season end in the Super 16 round of the WNIT last Friday, as they were eliminated by Wyoming 84 to 52.

Carley Duffney scored a team-high 20 points for the Coyotes in the loss. Grace Larkins added 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.

USD ends their season with a 23 and 13 overall record.
