Yankton Bucks Senior Landon Potts has been named an All-State Honorable Mention in Class AA by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association.

Potts led the Bucks in scoring last season, recording 17 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Leading the Bucks to a SoDak 16 appearance.

Other area players earning All-State honors include Vermillion’s Trey Hansen as a Class A honorable mention and Gayville-Volin junior Spencer Karstens, who is an honorable mention in Class B.

Yankton Gazelles senior Claire Tereshinski has been selected by the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association as an All-State Honorable Mention in Class AA for girls’ basketball.

In her senior season, Tereshinski recorded 12.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, leading Yankton to a SoDak 16 bid. Tereshinski will stay in Yankton as she transitions to the collegiate level, as she recently signed with Mount Marty University to continue her basketball career with plans to study nursing.

Other area players earning All-State honors include Vermillion’s Taylor Reuvers and Brooke Jensen, both 3rd-team in Class A, Avon’s Courtney Sees, 3rd-team in Class B, and Gayville-Volin’s Taylor Hoxeng, Honorable Mention in Class B.

Mount Marty Softball was swept by #11 Northwestern in their doubleheader yesterday, 8 to 0 in game one, and 4 to 2 in game two.

The Lancers were held to 2 hits in game one, with Janeah Castro and Reese Peterson each going 1 for 2 at the plate. Abby Johnson tallied 2 RBI in game two, with Sami Noble and Ella Ray scoring the two runs.

MMU, 9 and 15 overall, are off until April 3rd for a doubleheader against Briar Cliff at Sertoma Park in Yankton.

Mount Marty Baseball is scheduled to begin their four-game series against Midland tomorrow afternoon in Fremont, Nebraska.

The Lancers are 15 and 12 on the year, having dropped their last five games in a row. The Warriors enter the series at 20 and 6, winners of six straight.

Tomorrow’s doubleheader will begin at 1:00 PM. Saturday’s games are scheduled to start at the same time.

Mount Marty Track and Field is scheduled to open their outdoor season today at the Wayne State Wildcat Classic in Wayne, Nebraska. Events are scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.

Yankton Bucks Tennis hosts Mitchell today for a duel at the YHS Tennis Courts. Matches are scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM.
