Tipoff times have officially been set for the SoDak 16 in Class AA, as both the Bucks and Gazelles will be in Mitchell on back-to-back days with a spot in the state tournament on the line.

The Gazelles will take on the Kernels on Friday night with tipoff set for 8:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV will begin at 7:30.

The Bucks travel to Mitchell on Saturday for their late afternoon matchup. Tipoff is set for 5:00 PM with pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV beginning at 4:30.

Yankton native Dave Spencer was honored recently as a member of the South Dakota Amateur Hockey Association’s Hall of Fame Class of 2024.

Spencer, who has been a key contributor to the founding and development of Yankton Hockey throughout the years, will be inducted into the “builder” category of this year’s class.

The enshrinement ceremony for this year’s class will be held on April 12th at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.

Yankton Miracle Hockey claimed 3rd place in the Bantam A state tournament, defeating Oahe 2 to 0 over the weekend.

Maxwell Weisenburger and Rylan Murphy scored a goal each in the win. Blake Cunningham secured the shutout in net, tallying 23 saves for Yankton.

Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Bowling both claimed runners-up finishes in their respective divisions at the 2024 South Dakota High School Bowling Association State Tournament.

The Gazelles were defeated by Brookings 2 to 0 in the final, after qualifying 3rd for the tournament. Yankton’s Teighlor Karstens was named the captain of the All-Tournament Team.

The Bucks fell to Brandon Valley 2 to 0 in the final. Justin Stratman was named to the All-Tournament team for the Bucks.

The Yankton Quarterback Club will host their weekly meeting at noon tomorrow at the River Rock Event Center in Yankton.

This week will feature four guest speakers, as YHS Tennis Coach Ryan Hage, YHS Boys Basketball Coach Chris Haynes, YHS Girls Basketball Coach Matt Decker, and YHS Wrestling Coach Robert Coyle will all speak at the event,

Cedar Catholic Boys Basketball hosts Lutheran High Northeast tonight in the Class C2 District Finals, with a spot in the Class C2 state tournament up for grabs.

Tipoff from Hartington is scheduled for 6:30 PM, pregame coverage on Riverfront Sports 94.3 FM begins at 6:15. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

The Crofton Girls Basketball team is the # 2 seed in this year’s Class C2 state tournament, with their round one game against #7 Clarkson-Leigh scheduled for tomorrow afternoon in Lincoln. 

Coverage for the game will be available on Riverfront Sports 94.3 FM. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:30 PM with pregame coverage beginning at 1:15. Scott Ulrich will be on the call.

The Wynot Blue Devils Boys Basketball team earned a spot in the Class D2 state tournament for the 4th straight year last night with a 74 to 34 win over Hay Springs.

Carson Wieseler led Wynot in scoring with 19 points in the win. He was followed closely by Andrew Haberman with 17.
