Mount Marty Men’s Basketball snapped their 8-game losing streak last night with an 83 to 61 victory over the Doane Tigers.

MMU had multiple players eclipse the 20-point mark. Jared Lopez led the way with a 24-point 10-rebound double-double, followed by 20 points from Cole Bowen. Rugby Ryken led the Lancers in assists with 10.

Next up for MMU is a road game on Saturday against Northwestern in Orange City, Iowa. 

Mount Marty Women’s Basketball fell to 5 and 17 on the year last night with an 82 to 50 loss to the Doane Tigers.

Kaity Hove led the Lancers in scoring with 12 points on the night, followed by Sidney Thue and Jadyn Jensen with 10 apiece. Maria Parsley finished just shy of a double-double with 9 points and 12 rebounds.

Next up for the Lancers is a road game on Saturday against Northwestern in Orange City, Iowa. 

Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Basketball host Rapid City Stevens tomorrow night for a Class AA doubleheader inside the Summit Activities Center.

On the boys’ side, the Bucks are 2 and 11 on the year, sitting 16th in Class AA, while Stevens enters with a 10 and 5 record. They are currently 7th in the class.

On the girls’ side, the Gazelles are 13th in Class AA with a 4 and 9 record. Stevens is currently 9th in the class with a 7 and 9 record.

The Gazelles will play first at 6:00 PM tomorrow night with the Bucks to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 5:30. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

Mount Marty Track and Field is scheduled to host the “Mount Marty Last Chance Meet” tomorrow at the Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse in Yankton. Events are set to begin at 12:00 PM noon on Friday.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Tennis host Concordia University for a duel tomorrow afternoon in Yankton. Matches are scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.

University of South Dakota Women’s Basketball player Madison Grange has been chosen for the 2024 “So You Want to Be a Coach” program, hosted by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association in partnership with WeCOACH.

Grange is 1 of the 55 senior women’s basketball players selected to take part in this year’s campaign, as she will participate in a two-day workshop during the NCAA Women’s Final Four in Cleveland on April 4th and 5th.

Grange is the 4th Coyote to be selected for the program, joining Chloe Lamb in 2022, Madison McKeever in 2020, and  Lisa Loeffler in 2016. Both Lamb and McKeever are currently on coaching staffs at the collegiate level, with Lamb at the University of Mary, and McKeever at St. Thomas.

South Dakota Men’s Basketball will be at home tonight as they host the Denver Pioneers. Tipoff from Vermillion is slated for 7:00 PM.

South Dakota Women’s Basketball is on the road in Denver, Colorado this evening for a conference matchup with the Denver Pioneers. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
