Yankton Gazelles Basketball fell to 4 and 9 on the year last night, as they were defeated by the Pierre Governors 55 to 29.

Claire Tereshinski scored 10 points for the Gazelles, followed by Eden Wolfgram with 8. Macy Drotzmann led in rebounds with 6.

The Gazelles are off until February 9th, when they host Rapid City Stevens in Yankton.

Yankton Bucks Basketball is scheduled to take the trip to the state capital this evening for a matchup with the Pierre Governors.

Both teams are coming off of losses, as the Bucks fell to O’Gorman on Monday 58 to 40, while the Govs have back-to-back losses to Harrisburg, 65 to 29, and O’Gorman, 57 to 46.

Tipoff is set for 7:00 PM tonight with pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV beginning at 6:30. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Basketball are set to host the Morningside Mustangs tomorrow afternoon, for a GPAC doubleheader inside Cimpl Arena.

On the women’s side, the Lancers fell to #1 ranked Dordt in their last game on Wednesday, while the Mustangs are also coming off a loss, as they were defeated by #6 Concordia last time out.

On the men’s side, MMU is coming off an 89 to 80 loss to Dordt on Wednesday, while Morningside has dropped two in a row to Jamestown and Concordia.

The women will play first at 2:00 PM Saturday with the men to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 1:15. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Wrestling will have their final home meet of the season tomorrow morning, as they host a 22-team invitational. Matches are scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday.

Yankton Gymnastics will compete in a “last chance” meet tomorrow morning in Brookings. The event serves as a final opportunity to improve individual scores ahead of state qualification. Events are scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM.

Mount Marty Baseball has been picked to finish 4th in the GPAC, ahead of next weekend’s season opener for the Lancers.

MMU finished with a 38 and 15 overall record, 19 and 9 in GPAC play, with their season ending in the penultimate round of the conference tournament.

The Lancers open the 2024 campaign in Omaha on February 10th, opening up a four-game swing against Mount Mercy. Full GPAC Preseason Polls are listed below.

Mount Marty Softball has been picked to finish 8th in the GPAC this year, with  2023 conference tournament champion Midland selected as the preseason favorites.

The Lancers finished 2023 with a 20 and 21 record, 11 and 11 in GPAC play. The Lancers did make a run in the GPAC tournament before being eliminated by Northwestern.

Members of the Mount Marty Track and Field team are scheduled to compete in the UNL Frank Sevigne Invitational, beginning today in Lincoln, Nebraska. Events will be held at Bob Devaney Sports Center beginning at noon.

The 2024 football schedule is officially set for the South Dakota Coyotes, and it begins with a week one game at home against Northern State of NCAA Division II on August 29th.

Following the season opener, USD will be on the road for games against Wisconsin on Sept. 7th and Portland State on Sept. 14th, before wrapping up non-conference play at home on Sept. 21st against Drake. The full 2024 football Schedule is listed below:

South Dakota Men’s Basketball was defeated by the North Dakota Fightin’ Hawks last night, 95 to 81.

Paul Bruns and Kaleb Stewart led the Coyotes in scoring, as each recorded 18 points on the night. Lahat Thioune (La-hot Toon) finished shy of a double-double with 8 points and 11 rebounds.

Next up for USD is a road game on Sunday against SDSU in Brookings. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 PM.

South Dakota Women’s Basketball picked up their third straight win last night, defeating North Dakota 69 to 53.

Kendall Holmes led the charge with 15 points and 6 rebounds in the win. Holmes was followed by a 13-point, 6-rebound, 6-assists performance from Grace Larkins.

Next up for USD is a home game against SDSU on Saturday in Vermillion. Tipoff is set for 6:00 PM.

South Dakota State Men’s Basketball was edged out by the North Dakota State Bison last night, 74 to 73.

Zeke Mayo dropped a game-high 35 points in the loss, while Luke Appel added 10 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.

South Dakota State Women’s Basketball remains undefeated in conference play and increased their win streak to 10 games last night with a 65 to 58 win over North Dakota State.

Brooklyn Meyer led in both scoring and rebounding with 17 points and 5 boards. Tori Nelson tied Meyer for the team-high in rebounds with 5 of her own.
