Local Sports 1-23-24

Yankton Gazelles Basketball fell to 3 and 7 last night, as they were defeated by the top-ranked O’Gorman Knights 52 to 26.

O’Gorman held all Yankton scorers to single digits in the game, as Camryn Koletsky led the Gazelles with 9 points, followed by Eden Wolfgram with 8.

Next up for Yankton is a home matchup with Brandon Valley on Friday.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Basketball travel to Seward, Nebraska tomorrow night for a GPAC doubleheader against Concordia University.

The two schools met in early December for a doubleheader in Yankton. The Bulldogs swept the Lancers that day, winning the men’s game 82 to 54, and the women’s game 77 to 57.

The women will play first at 6:00 PM tomorrow with the men to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT begins at 5:15. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Basketball have also set dates for a pair of matchups against Jamestown following the cancelation of a doubleheader earlier this month. 

The first set of matchups will take place next Monday, January 29th, with the men playing first at 5:30 PM with the women to follow.

The second meeting between the programs will occur on February 17th in Jamestown, with the women scheduled to play at 2:00 PM and the men to follow.

Yankton Gymnastics has added an event to their calendar, as they have scheduled a duel against Estelline-Hendricks for Monday, January 29th. The change was made after Yankton could not attend an event in Hendricks last week. The competition begins at 6:00 PM next Monday night.

Yankton Bucks and Gazelles wrestling will host Brandon Valley and Aberdeen Central for a varsity triangular this evening. Matches will be held at Yankton High School beginning at 5:00 PM.

The Yankton Quarterback Club will host their weekly meeting tomorrow at the River Rock Event Center in Yankton. This week’s featured guest speakers will be YHS Head Girls Basketball Coach Matt Decker and YHS Head Wrestling Coach Robert Coyle. The meeting is scheduled to begin at noon on Wednesday.

Cedar Catholic Boys and Girls Basketball is on the road this evening for their doubleheader against Ponca.

The girls are scheduled to play first at 6:00 PM with the boys to follow. Coverage for the game will be provided by Riverfront Sports via the Cedar Catholic listen live link on this station’s website, as well as the Riverfront Sports mobile app. Pregame will begin around 5:40 PM with Scott Ulrich on the call.
