Yankton High School athletics are currently in the midst of a break due to the Christmas holiday, with basketball, gymnastics, and wrestling set to begin around the new year.

Yankton Bucks basketball will return to action on December 30th, as they will be on the road for a game against the Brookings Bobcats.

Yankton Gazelles basketball will also be in action on December 30th against the Bobcats, in what will be a boys/girls double header in Brookings. The Gazelles play first at noon with the Bucks to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 11:30 AM.

Yankton Bucks and Gazelles wrestling will open 2024 with a home meet on January 4th. Yankton will host Mitchell and Harrisburg inside the Summit Activities Center for the triangular. Matches begin at 5:00 PM on the 4th.

Yankton Gymnastics will next compete on January 6th, 2024 in an invitational at Brookings High School. Brookings, Harrisburg, Huron, Mitchell, Pierre, and Watertown will also compete in the invite. Competitions begin at 11:00 AM on the 6th.

Mount Marty Athletics have also taken a leave during the holiday season, with action picking back up on Friday, December 29th with men’s basketball.

MMU men’s basketball will take on Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska on the 29th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM with pregame coverage on KYNT beginning at 6:30.

MMU women’s basketball are off until January 6th, when they take on Northwestern to open GPAC play. Tip-off from Yankton is scheduled for 2:00 PM on the 6th.

MMU Track and Field have the longest wait, as their next competition will be a home meet on January 13th. The Mount Marty Opener will be held at the Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse.

South Dakota men’s basketball begins Summit League play on Friday, as they travel to Fargo to take on North Dakota State. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.

South Dakota women’s basketball will be at home on Friday night for their first Summit League game of the year. USD hosts North Dakota State inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center, beginning at 7:00 PM.

South Dakota State men’s basketball open up Summit League play on New Year’s Eve, as they host North Dakota inside Frost Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM on the 31st. 

South Dakota State women’s basketball play their first conference game on New Year’s Eve, as they travel to Grand Forks, North Dakota to take on the North Dakota Fightin’ Hawks. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM on the 31st.
