Yankton Gazelles Basketball will hit the road for the first time this season tonight, as they travel to Huron for a meeting with the Tigers.

            The Gazelles enter the contest with a 1 and 0 record following their win over Sioux Falls Lincoln last week. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 PM with pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV beginning at 6:30. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

            Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Basketball have a home double header tomorrow night against Concordia University.

The women will play first at 6:00 PM with the men to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV will begin at 5:15. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

Mount Marty University placed third as a team in the men’s NAIA National Marathon in Sacramento, California over the weekend, led by a 4th place individual finish for Brian Santiago.

Also running for the Lancer men were Cristobal Gonzalez, who finished 18th and Tague Tvedt, who came home in 31st. Jordyn Fischer was the lone representative for the Mount Marty women, as she ended the race in 19th.

The first South Dakota High School Boys Basketball media polls of the season were released yesterday, and the defending champion Yankton Bucks are receiving votes in Class AA.

The Top-5 teams in order in the class are Sioux Falls Jefferson, Sioux Falls Roosevelt, Harrisburg, Mitchell, and O’Gorman

Yankton is one of four teams receiving votes, as they are joined by Sioux Falls Lincoln, Brandon Valley, and Rapid City Stevens

Yankton Wrestling will hit the mats this evening, as they host a quadrangular at the Summit Activities Center in Yankton.

Matches are scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM, as Yankton will compete against Lennox, Sioux Falls Lincoln, and Sioux Falls Washington during the meet.

South Dakota Coyotes Kicker Will Leyland has been announced as 1 of 10 finalists for the Fred Mitchell Outstanding Place-Kicker Award.

Leyland, a sophomore from Souderton, Pennsylvania, is the only FCS kicker in the nation who has not missed a field goal so far this season, as he is 12 for 12 on the year, and 36 for 36 on extra point attempts.

The award winner will be announced in mid-December.

South Dakota Coyote Guard Grace Larkins was announced yesterday as the TicketSmarter Summit League Peak Performer of the Week for women’s basketball.

Larkins earned the honor for the first time this season, following a week that saw her average 26.5 points, 8 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3 steals to lead the Coyotes to wins over Northern Iowa and Loyola Marymount.

Larkins currently leads the Summit League in total points, rebounds and assists so far this season.

The Yankton Quarterback Club will host their weekly meeting at noon tomorrow at the River Rock Event Center in Yankton. This week’s featured guest speaker will be USD head women’s basketball coach Kayla Karius.
