The Yankton Bucks begin the Class 11-AA Football Playoffs this evening, entering the postseason as the #2 seed with an 8 and 1 record.

The Bucks will square off with the Huron Tigers again tonight at Crane-Youngworth field, following the Bucks 56 to 21 win over Huron to end the regular season just last week.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 5:00. Bryce Ladwig and Josh Boelter will be on the call.

Mount Marty Volleyball fell to #4 ranked Concordia last night in a three set match inside Cimpl Arena.

Julia Weber tallied 14 kills to lead the Lancers in the loss, as Ally Whitmire posted 27 assists on the night.

The Lancers, now 10 and 19 on the year, will be at home for their “senior day” match on Saturday against the College of St. Mary.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Soccer were on the road yesterday, as they split a doubleheader with Waldorf. The Lancer men won 2 to 0, while the MMU women were defeated 3 to 0.

Javier Palomo and David Provencher picked up the two goals for the Lancers in their win. The Mount Marty attack had 13 shots on goal in the match, while allowing only 2 for Waldorf.

Both Lancer squads will be on the road for their regular season finale on Saturday, as they take on Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska.

University of South Dakota Women’s Basketball star Grace Larkins was selected yesterday as one of twenty-five players named to the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award Watchlist.

Larkins made Summit League history last season, as she became the first player to rank in the top-three in points, rebounds, assists and steals in the conference. No other player had even made the top-5 in all four categories in the same season prior to Larkins.

Larkins becomes the 4th Coyote to be named to the preseason watchlist for the award, joining 2020 award winner Ciara (K-ear-uh) Duffy, 2021 finalist Hannah Sjerven (Sherven) and Chloe Lamb, who made the list prior to the 2022 season.

The quarterfinal round of the Class 9-B State Football Playoffs will take place today, and both the Avon Pirates and the Gayville-Volin Raiders are among the 8 teams still vying for a state title.

Avon are the top seed in the class, coming off of a 54 to 14 win over Faith in round one. They will host #8 seeded Hitchcock-Tulare this evening.

The 12th seeded Gayville-Volin upset #5 Herreid-Selby Area last week 34 to 32 to punch their ticket to round two. The Raiders will be on the road tonight against #4 De Smet.
