LOCAL SPORTS 9-14-23

The Yankton Bucks football team will host the Pierre Governors tomorrow night at Crane-Youngworth Field, in a matchup between the top-2 teams in the 11-AA media polls.

            Kickoff for tomorrow night’s game between the Bucks and Governors is set for 7:00 PM, pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV will begin at 6:00. Bryce Ladwig and Josh Boelter will be on the call.

            Mount Marty women’s golfer Kelsey Heath was honored yesterday as the GPAC women’s golfer of the week.

            Heath is coming off of a tournament victory in the Siouxland Invitational last week, helping lead the Lancers to a third place team finish.

            Mount Marty volleyball fell to the College of St. Mary last night in a 3-set match, as the Lancers are now 9 and 7 on the year.

            Mia Furst led the Lancer attack with 15 kills, while Ally Whitmire set the table for her teammates with 39 assists.

            The Lancers next match is scheduled for Saturday, as they host Midland University at Cimpl Arena. First serve is scheduled for 3:00 PM.

            Mount Marty men’s and women’s soccer hosted a double header against Doane last night at Crane-Youngworth Field. The men would take a 1-1 draw with Doane, while the women fell to the Tigers 4 to 0.

            Diego Romero scored the lone goal for the Lancer men, as they are now 1, 2, and 3 on the year, while the women are now 1 and 3 with the loss.

            Both teams will be on the road for their next matches, as they travel to Seward, Nebraska for a double header with Concordia on Saturday.

            Yankton Bucks and Gazelles soccer are at home tonight as they host Mitchell for a double header.

            The Bucks will play first at 4:00 PM, with the Gazelles starting at 6:00. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 3:30, Brayden Butler will be on the call.

            Yankton Gazelles tennis will meet Rapid City Christian and Sioux Falls Christian today, as they host both teams at the YHS tennis courts.

            The Gazelles will meet Rapid City Christian first at 10:00 AM, with their match against Sioux Falls Christian slated for 4:00 PM.

Yankton Bucks golf have an invitational scheduled for tomorrow morning, taking place at Lake View Golf Course in Mitchell. Tee time is set for 10:30 AM.

Yankton Bucks and Gazelles cross country will be in action tomorrow, as they will compete at Skyview Lake in Norfolk, Nebraska. Girls varsity will run first at 10:00 AM on Friday, with boys varsity scheduled to begin at 10:30.
