The Yankton Bucks football team are 1 and 0 on the year, as they host Spearfish tonight at Crane-Youngworth Field in Yankton.

            Yankton is coming off of a 42 to 0 win over Mitchell in week 1, while Spearfish is also 1 and 0 on the year, following their 51 to 27 win over St. Thomas More last week.

            Kickoff from Crane-Youngworth Field is scheduled for 7:00 PM this evening, pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 6:00. Bryce Ladwig and Josh Boelter will be on the call.

            The Mount Marty Lancers football team are 1 and 0 to start the season, as they host Briar Cliff at Crane-Youngworth Field tomorrow evening.

            This will be the first GPAC game of the year for the Lancers, MMU took a 41 to 19 win over the Chargers last season, capturing their first conference win in program history in the process.

            Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM tomorrow night in Yankton, pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 6:00. Steve Thum and Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

            Yankton Bucks and Gazelles soccer were swept by O’Gorman in their double header last night, in a pair of close games.

            The Gazelles fell 3 to 2 to O’Gorman, while the Bucks were shutout by the Knights, 1 to 0. The Gazelles are now 2 and 4 on the season, while the Bucks fall to 4 and 2.

            The Bucks and Gazelles return home next Tuesday, as they host Brandon Valley in a double header at Crane-Youngworth Field.

            Mount Marty women’s golf are currently third in the Mount Marty Invite following day one of the event.

            The Lancers shot a 332 on day one, ten shots behind Bellevue who hold the lead in the team standings. MMU’s Kelsey Heath currently leads the individual standings, as she tallied a 4-over 76 on day one.

            The Mount Marty Invite will conclude today at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton.

            Yankton Gazelles tennis are in Mitchell today, with an early start time, as the event was pushed to a 9:00 AM start due to projected high temps across the state.

Yankton will compete against Madison and Mitchell during the event.

The Augustana Twilight Meet will be held this evening in Sioux Falls, and Cross Country teams from both Yankton High School and Mount Marty will compete in the event.

The Bucks and Gazelles will compete first as the high school varsity girls 5K begins at 7:40 PM, with the boys varsity 5K at 8:10.

The Lancer women will open the collegiate portion of the event with the women’s 5K at 8:40, with the collegiate men’s 4 mile run ending the night at 9:10.

Yankton Cheer and Dance competed in their first competition of the season last night in Watertown, taking home 3rd in the dance competition with a score of 260.75, and 11th in cheer with a score of 192.

Harrisburg took home the team title in cheer, while Brandon Valley earned the top spot in the dance competition.

Yankton Cheer and Dance will next compete in a home invitational on September 7th.

The South Dakota Coyotes football team are 0 and 1 to start the year, as they fell 35 to 10 to Missouri last night.

Quarterback Aidan Bouman went 15 for 25 for 156 yards and a touchdown in the loss, while the Coyote running game was held to just 38 total yards on the ground.

The Coyotes will return home for the first time in 2023 next Saturday, September 9th, as they host St. Thomas for a 1:00 PM kickoff

The Nebraska Cornhuskers opened their 2023 football season with a walk-off loss to Minnesota last night, as the Golden Gophers hit a field goal as time expired to win 13 to 10.

Nebraska’s new starting quarterback Jeff Sims went 11 for 19 for 114 yards and a TD through the air, plus another 91 yards on the ground. The Huskers turned the ball over 4 times total in the loss, committing 3 interceptions and losing a fumble to the Gophers.

Nebraska, now 0 and 1 on the year, will be on the road for their game next Saturday against Colorado.
