The Yankton Gazelles volleyball team fell in a three-set sweep last night to the Harrisburg Tigers.

            The first two sets ended 25 to 17, with the deciding set ending 25 to 5 in favor of the Tigers. Yankton fell to 1 and 5 with the loss, while Harrisburg moved to 6 and 0 on the season.

            The Gazelles will have a week off before their next match, as they host Sioux Falls Roosevelt on September 5th.

            Yankton Bucks and Gazelles soccer will be on the road tomorrow, as they travel to Sioux Falls for a double header with O’Gorman. The Bucks will play first at 6:00 PM, with the Gazelles scheduled to kick off at 8:00.

            Mount Marty men’s soccer will play their third match of the season this afternoon, as they are on the road for their meeting with Graceland University. First kick from Lamoni, Iowa is scheduled for 5:00 PM.

            The Yankton Bucks golf team fell to Mitchell in yesterday’s Marchand Cup, held at Lake View Golf Course in Mitchell.

            Mitchell won the Ryder Cup styled event 17 to 7 over the Bucks, with the teams competing in best ball, scramble, and singles play across the 18-holes.

            Yankton will return to action on Friday, as they have a quad with Brandon Valley, Harrisburg, and O’Gorman at Spring Creek Country Club in Harrisburg.

            Mount Marty men’s tennis currently sit tied for 5th following yesterday’s opening round of the Mount Marty Invite.

            Morningside currently lead the event as they shot a 6-over 294 on day one, while the Lancers are even with Concordia with a score of 319. The top Lancer after day one is Bennett Cassens, who is tied with golfers from Morningside and Midland for the top spot on the leaderboard.

            The Mount Marty Invite will wrap up today at The Bluffs in Vermillion.

            Mount Marty women’s golf will begin their season tomorrow, as they host the women’s portion of the Mount Marty Invite at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton. Tomorrow will be day one of the two-day event.

The Yankton Gazelles tennis squad fell in both portions of their triangular yesterday, as both duels with Brandon Valley and O’Gorman ended in 5 to 4 decisions.

            Nora and Sabrina Krajewski (Kra-ski) went undefeated on the day, going 2 and 0 in both singles and doubles play. Addison Gordon also had a great event, going 2 and 0 in singles play.

            Yankton will be on the road on Friday, as they travel to Mitchell for their next meet. Yankton will have duels against Mitchell and Madison during the event.

            Yankton’s competitive cheer and dance squads will take part in their first event of the season tomorrow afternoon, as they’ll compete in Watertown. Events are scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM.

            The Hillcrest Pro-Lady Golf Tournament took place yesterday at Hillcrest Country Club, with Griffin Wood taking the pro title, and Cindy Weiland claiming the ladies title.

            Wood shot a 9-under 63 to win the pro title, while Weiland shot an 81 en route to the ladies title.

            Yesterday’s tournament served as a prelude to the Hillcrest Invitational Pro-Am, which begins tomorrow and runs through Sunday, September 3rd.

            Yankton Quarterback Club will host their weekly meeting today at River Rock Event Center on Broadway. This week’s featured guest speaker will be Mount Marty head football coach John Michaletti. The meeting is scheduled to begin at noon.
