Three members of the Yankton Post 12 legion baseball team were named as Class A All-State selections yesterday, as Drew Ryken and Lucas Kampshoff were selected to the first team, while Matthew Sheldon earned a spot on the second team.
Ryken and Kampshoff were honored for the second straight year, while Sheldon was honored for the first time in his career. Both Kampshoff and Sheldon will presumably return to the team next year as they are entering their senior and junior years respectively at Yankton High School, while Ryken will take the step up to the collegiate level as he’ll play baseball for Mount Marty University.

The Yankton Bucks football team opened their fall practices yesterday, as they prepare for their season opener on August 25th.
The Bucks will welcome new faces on both sides of the ball this season, but especially on the offense, as last year’s starting quarterback Rugby Ryken, running back Gavin Swanson, and top-two receivers in Cody Oswald and Tyler Sohler all graduated in the spring.
The new look Bucks football team will open their season on August 25th at Crane-Youngworth Field in Yankton, as they host the Mitchell Kernels.
The South Dakota High School Soccer Coaches Association released their preseason polls yesterday, and the Yankton Bucks and Gazelles are both receiving votes to start the year.
Rapid City Stevens takes the top spot in Class AA on the boys side, while Harrisburg begins the year in first on the girls side. Full Preseason Poll listed below:

The Lesterville Broncs of the South Central League advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class B Amateur Baseball State Tournament last night, as they defeated Menno 14 to 1.
Lesterville will play Winner-Colome in their next game on Thursday, with the winner punching their ticket to the semi-finals.
The Crofton Blue Jays are the next team to represent the South Central League in the Class B Tournament, as they will meet Larchwood this evening at 7:30.
