Nine Mitchell Legion Baseball Players Facing Charges Related to Second-Degree Rape

Nine members of the Mitchell Legion Baseball team have been indicted by a grand jury on second-degree rape charges.

Hudson Haley, 18, is facing two charges of second degree rape and one count for aiding and abetting. Landon Waddell, 19, is charged with one count of second degree rape and two counts of aiding and abetting. Karter Sibson, 17, Carter Miler, 17, Lincoln Bates, 18, and Peyton Mandel, 17, have all been charged with one count of second degree rape, and aiding and abetting. The other three involved are pending charges in juvenile court. Juvenile court cases are closed to the public.

The charges of second degree rape and aiding and abetting levied against the six involved are considered Class 1 felonies in South Dakota, and are punishable by up to 50 years in prison and a fine up to $50,000.

According to South Dakota Law, any minor who is at least 16 years of age will be tried as an adult for a Class 1 felony.
