The Yankton post 12 legion baseball team moved to 18 and 8 on the year, as they split their pair of games yesterday against Sioux Falls Post 15 East and West.

Yankton defeated Post 15 West in game one of the day, as they took a 1 to 0 victory on the back of a complete game shutout on the mound by Drew Ryken. Ryken would strike out eight batters and allow only three hits in the win. Yankton fell 5 to 4 to Sioux Falls East in the nightcap. Lucas Kampshoff hit his 3rd home run of the season in the loss, and his 2nd over the last 3 games.

Yankton Post 12 has an extended break before their next games, as they’re scheduled to compete in the Gopher Classic July 7th through the 11th. Yankton will compete in the University of Northwestern at St Paul pool. Meeting Post 12 in pool play will be Millard West, Elkhorn, Buffalo, West Fargo, and Hastings.

A Class A Legion baseball team has halted operations for the time being, as Mitchell Post 18 announced that they would be suspending activities due to a legal matter.

Head coach Luke Norden described the cause of the suspension as player personnel issues, and no timetable for the resumption of baseball activities for Post 18 has been made available at this time.

No individual suspensions have been distributed yet, as the investigation is still ongoing.

The 2023 Ringneck Invitational Softball tournament begins tomorrow, and Yankton’s three 18u softball teams, Fury Red, Black, and Fire, are slated to compete in the event.

The first game for each team has been set, as Fury Red will square off with Nebraska Quakes Gold, Fury Black will meet Bennington Elite, and Fury Fire will battle the Omaha Warriors.

The Ringneck Invitational will take place from June 30th through July 2nd, and will be held at Sherman Park in Sioux Falls.
