Yankton Post 12 fell to 17 and 7 on the year last night, as they were defeated 12 to 9 by Dell Rapids, despite a late inning surge.

            Yankton was down 11 to 1 with 2 outs in the fifth inning, as they would outscore The Phils 8 to 1 over the next 2 and 1/3rd innings. Lucas Kampshoff launched a solo home run in the game, while Matthew Sheldon went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI in the loss.

            Next up for Yankton is a pair of games against Sioux Falls East and West today at Riverside Field. Yankton will meet Sioux Falls West in game one at noon, and cap off the day with a game against Sioux Falls East at 7:00. Sioux Falls East and West will also play Tabor over the course of the event. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins a half hour before first pitch for both Post 12 games.

Updated Legion baseball rankings were released yesterday in Class A. Yankton remains 2nd to Harrisburg Gold in the latest update, as last night’s loss to non-league Dell Rapids does not affect the standings.

            The Yankton Fury Fire softball squad fell in the opening game of their double header with SD Thunder 5 to 0, before ending the night with a 5 to 5 draw in game two.

            Andrea Miller and Shaelynn Puckett led the Fury bats in the draw, as they each recorded a pair of hits. Emma Wiese threw 3 and 1/3rd innings for Yankton in the decision, striking out two batters in the process.

            The results drop Yankton Fury Fire to 2, 7, and 2 on the year, as they turn their attention to a meeting with the Omaha Warriors on Friday.

The Freeman Black Sox of the South Central League had a non-league game last night, as they defeated the Corsica-Stickney Horned Frogs 11 to 2.

Jackson Fiegen, Bailey Sage and Blake Schroedermeier all hit home runs for Freeman, with Sage leading the charge as he went 2 for 3 with 4 RBI in the win.

            South Central League play will return tomorrow night, as Menno travels to face off with Tabor, while Yankton will host Wynot.
