The Yankton Bucks and Gazelles basketball teams will square off with the Sioux Falls Washington Warriors this evening in a split double header.

The Gazelles will play the #1 ranked SF Washington in Yankton, while the Bucks will travel to Sioux Falls for their meeting with the Warriors. Both games are scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.

            Coverage for the Bucks game will be broadcast on KYNT and KYNTV beginning with the pregame show at 6:30 PM. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

            NOTICE: Due to impending weather, start times for games between Yankton and SF Washington could be earlier than scheduled as there will be shortened breaks between sub-varsity and varsity games throughout the afternoon.

            The Latest Class AA boys basketball media polls were released yesterday afternoon, and the Yankton Bucks dropped from 4th to 5th despite going undefeated over the last week. The new polls read as follows:

  • 1. Sioux Falls Jefferson (17-1)
  • 2. Sioux Falls Lincoln (15-3)
  • 3. Sioux Falls Washington (11-6) (Defeated #1 SF Jefferson last week)
  • 4. Mitchell (14-4)
  • 5. Yankton (13-4)
  • Receiving votes: SF Roosevelt 7, Brandon Valley 2.

            The South Dakota High School State Wrestling Tournament begins on Thursday in Rapid City, and seven Yankton wrestlers have qualified for the meet.

Naveah Leonard and Jaclyn Kyte will represent the Gazelles, while the Bucks will be represented by Edly Amaro, Shayce Platt, Damian Janish, Peyton Eustace, and Dylan Sloan.

Day one of the state tournament is this Thursday in Rapid City, matches are set to begin at 10 AM.

Due to inclement weather in the forecast, the Yankton Quarterback Club will not meet tomorrow at JoDeans.

The final meeting of the 2022-23 season is currently scheduled for next Wednesday, March 1st, at JoDean’s at noon. Speakers will be the head coaches for Mount Marty softball, baseball and archery.

District Finals have been set for Nebraska High School Girls Basketball and three area teams are involved, including the Wynot Blue Devils who now have a location and time set for their game.

In Class D2, #9 Wynot will face Overton at Seward High School, tip off is set for 6:00 PM on Thursday.

In Class D1, #4 Hartington-Cedar Catholic will host #13 Niobrara-Verdigre at 7:00 PM Thursday evening.

In Class C2, top-seeded Crofton will meet Freeman at Columbus Lakeview High School at 7:00 PM Thursday .
